Get Messy is an art journal challenge where a gang of crafty vixens are sharing art journal pages we have created to practise our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. We share our pages without restraint every week, and once a month we create around a prompt. Go check out these crazy talented ladies who are creating pages who each have a unique perspective and style. We will be sharing our work around social media so follow the hashtag #getmessyartjournal.
My art journal flow has been pretty much this: Create throughout the week, whenever I’m feeling it. At least two pages by Tuesday. Photograph pages to post by Wednesday afternoon. Write and schedule blog post by Wednesday night. Enjoy all the #getmessyartjournal gal’s pages posted throughout my Thursday.
I’m in a groove and I like it. 🙂
So here’s what has come from my head to my art journal since last week:
PLEASE don’t tell me what to feel. Just. Don’t.
I mean… I really hate it when I spill my heart out, we’re talking emotion explosion, and someone says, “You shouldn’t let that get to you so much” or “Don’t feel that way” or “It’s not that big of a deal”.
So. Yeah. Guess I created my first page from the frustrated zone. 😉
The ‘please’ is my favorite part. I love painting words. I really do.
I have had this word on my heart for months. This page was especially made with my sweet boys in mind. After a conversation we had Monday evening, the three of us. On the back of this page is some personal journaling.
Also, I have finally begun punching holes in my pages to place them in my binder. I haven’t done anything with the cover, though and I don’t know that I will. As you can see, I am a fan of negative space. 😉
This is my favorite this week. It’s my favorite because I was the happiest while creating it.
I felt pretty crappy physically on Tuesday afternoon into the evening. But, when I started to feel better I decided to use the energy I had to create a bit. That was a good choice. ❤
I knew I wanted to make a page about the special day we had had the day before, on Monday. There wasn’t anything extraordinary about the day. But, there was a lot of wonderful. And it was found intentionally, for sure.
I doodled the border and stamped the phrase. $1 alpha stamps from Michael’s. I’m all about crafting on a budget, y’all.
I don’t normally create two page spreads in my art journal. But, this time, I did. I journaled the little details that I wanted to remember on the left page.
And hey, those notes will come in super handy when it’s time to record this day in my Project Life album. 🙂
Lyrics from a song that is near and dear to my heart. ❤
I am using watercolors and brushes from Ikea. Super cheap. Probably not the best quality, but they’re working for me.
That ‘R’ wasn’t meant to look so moustache like… it does kind of look moustache-y, right?? Haha. 🙂
And there ya have it. Still loving this way of art journaling, with the Get Messy challenge. Loving it a lot!
